Bamboo Laminate Flooring
Some forms of bamboo flooring come as laminated to help make it more solid and stable. Most types of bamboo laminate flooring are installed through the floating floor method. The handy thing about this type of installation is that the flooring is treated as a single plank, so it does not contract or expand nearly as rapidly. The bamboo laminate flooring also is typically installed without glue or nails. The floating floor method allows the flooring to be installed without the need of glue or nails because of the way the planks lock together. The solid and stable bamboo laminate flooring is one of the best types of bamboo flooring a person can have installed in his or her house, as it is quite durable and does not contract and expand like normal wood flooring.
The lamination process basically makes it so two layers of bamboo are glued together to make it stronger than normal. A bamboo laminate flooring is in fact more stable than normal bamboo flooring because of the lamination. Because it is more stable, it does not contract and expand as rapidly in response to water as does normal wood. This means that when this type of flooring is installed, very little maintenance will be needed.
When installing bamboo laminate flooring, the planks are made to be set down and locked together. Little to no gluing or nailing is required when this form of bamboo flooring is installed. This method of installation is known as the floating floor installation, which means that the planks of bamboo are laid down on top of the subfloor. The planks are able to be locked together like a giant puzzle. Because it does not require many, if any, special tools, installing bamboo flooring via the floating floor method can be done quickly and easily.
By having bamboo laminate flooring in a house, a person does not have to worry about it contracting or expanding rapidly in response to water or temperature. Though it will still contract and expand, the entire floor does this at once. The floating floor installation makes the floor act as if it were one large plank of bamboo. The lamination of the bamboo material makes the flooring more durable as well, which means that it can handle any contraction and expansion easily.
The laminated bamboo material used in certain types of bamboo flooring allows it to withstand more force than normal. It is usually installed via the floating floor method, which is described as a large puzzle and requires no glue or nails. Little to no maintenance is needed on a bamboo laminate flooring as it will not be damaged easily.
